The purpose of setting up RNIB Info Line was to introduce a new way for customers to access information. Providing audio information over the phone has been helpful to those who do not want to receive large quantities of documents in the post or wait for deliver and for those who do not have access to the internet.
We know that simple and easy access to information is highly valued by our customers. The progression of the service since February 2017 has demonstrated that providing recorded information over the phone has shown that customers with a range of technical ability appreciate this alternative to accessing information through the internet.

The RNIB Info-Line service was set up by Talking Newspaper Services.
TNS provided the phone number and the technical set up of the service and RNIB provided the content and the menu structure.
The service has progressed very well over the last four months and many customers call and spend between 30 minutes to an hour listening to content so we can see that the service has provided another channel into the organisation making information accessible in a new format.
